Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists practice in a broad range of inpatient, outpatient and home care settings where, as part of a multidisciplinary team of care, they address the physical and functional dimensions of patients. The physiotherapist is involved in the treatment of patients with active and progressive conditions some of which include cancer, neurological, cardiac, respiratory, musculoskeletal conditions, and lymphoedema. Treatments like therapeutic exercises, mobility strengthening, endurance etc can be provided in outpatient settings as well. Palliative Physiotherapy services can be extended to home care patients depending on their need. Early palliative care rehabilitation helps in higher-functioning of the patients which is critical for optimal patient centred care. Palliative care physiotherapy has been found to positively influence QoL (Quality of Life) and well being of patients.
